Promiseland

A vibrant and effective children’s ministry is crucial to us at St Andrew’s. At services where adults attend who have primary school age children, we provide children’s ministry. This happens on Sunday’s at 10.45am.
Promiseland is committed to a two pronged approach to effectively reach children.

  • To teach Biblical truths in a relevant, creative way in a large group, and
  • To model loving, Biblical community in a small group setting, where life change happens best.
Both of these are crucial and at Promiseland we value them equally.

Our Philosophy

Children are important – they matter to God. Adults often lose sight of the fact that children are people too!

Leaders within Promiseland believe that entering into a relationship with Jesus is a process-oriented experience.

Promiseland is a child-centred ministry, not adult-centred. Every aspect of Promiseland – activities, age-specific teaching etc emphasises this.

Creativity is critical if children are going to be ministered to effectively. Promiseland recognises that there are many ways to attract and hold the attention of a child and continually tries new ways of expressing the message of Jesus. Using a variety of creative means effectively conveys the message and keeps it alive.

Promiseland leaders are dedicated to showing children how the principles taught in the Bible can be applied in everyday life, so a child can discover how they can walk with God and be difference makers.
Promiseland leaders are not just informational but are relational. Children remember adults who are interested in their lives and who care enough to build relationships with them.

All children are accepted – and new children are especially welcome

Children are more responsive to creative and fun ideas, not routine and boring ideas. In Promiseland, children often get a first impression of God and church. If children experience Promiseland as a fun place they look forward to being there and are more responsive to what is taught.
